67 Customizations

This page is a comprehensive list of changes that Snowscape has made from the vanilla 2009scape server.

Core changes

  • Random events and holiday events are disabled.
  • The afk logout timer has been extended to one hour.
  • You can trade untradeable items (you will be warned when items are meant to be untradeable).
  • Gravestone timers have been increased. The new times are 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, 60 minutes, ordered from least expensive to most expensive.
  • Hardcore mode has been restored. Dying in hardcore mode deletes your save.
  • For crafting interfaces that cover the chatbox, selecting "Make 10" will now make 30, allowing you to process your whole inventory without needing the "Make-X" option.
  • Clan banks: You can talk to a banker to enable "Clan Banks". When enabled, all banking actions will use the primary bank of the clan owner of the clan chat you are in, if they are online. If they are offline, you will use your own bank.
    • Only one player can open a bank account at a time. If an account is already open and you try to:
      • Open it: nothing will happen.
      • Open a deposit box: the deposit box will open but will deposit items from the inventory of the person accessing the bank instead of yourself.
      • Open a deposit box via an imp-in-a-box: the interface will open on the person who is already accessing the bank, and you will lose your imp.
      • Cast a Pack Yak Winter Storage scroll: the item will be deposited normally to the shared bank.
    • Only the primary account is shared. If, as a clan owner, you want a private bank, you will need to purchase the secondary account from a banker.
  • A custom command ::dps has been added. This will calculate the average Damage Per Second you will deal against a given opponent based on your current stats and gear.
    • To change the opponent, find the NPC ID with ::npcsearch <name> then use the ID with ::dps <ID>. For example, ::npcsearch cow will show that the Cow ID is 81, then ::dps 81 will calculate your DPS against cows.
    • The game will remember the last NPC ID you used until you log out.

New Items

  • A custom item called the Strange Teleorb has been added. It will allow you to save a single location, and teleport to it at will.
    • Teleorbs can be crafted by casting the Charge Air Orb spell on the Abyssal Rift, at the center of the Abyss.
    • Selecting "Inspect" on the Teleorb will give you a menu. This menu lets you:
      • Save your current location. When saving, you will be prompted to add a description of the location.
      • Add more charges to the Teleorb. Each charge requires 20 Law Runes or an additional orb.
      • Show the current number of charges and the description of your last saved location.
    • Selecting "Activate" on the Teleorb will drain one charge and teleport you to your last saved location.
  • Custom Satchels have been added. Each satchel type will store specific items inside of it, and has a unique feature related to the items it can store. They can be equipped in the shield slot.
    • Satchels can be crafted by casting an enchantment spell on a creature hide. See the table below for the spell and hide required.
    • Selecting "Inspect" on the satchel, or "Operate" when equipped, will bring up an interface where you can deposit and withdraw items.
    • Selecting "Empty" will withdraw as many items as you have space for.
    • Using an item on the satchel will add all of that item to the satchel.
    • Using a satchel on a bank booth will empty the satchel to your inventory as bank notes.
    • Eligible items dropped by slain enemies will automatically be stored in the satchel (unless the item name starts with any of the entries on your Player Ignore List).
Satchel Spell Hide Items Special Features
Plain Sapphire Enchant Blue Dragonhide Any Can hold 6 stacks of any item, but can only be emptied by using it on a bank booth, bank chest, or banker. Items dropped by enemies will only be stored if a stack of that item already exists in the satchel.
Green Emerald Enchant Green Dragonhide Seeds and Herbs Harvesting crops with the satchel equipped returns noted produce (see farming section).
Red Ruby Enchant Red Dragonhide Summoning Charms and Clue Scrolls See notes on clue scrolls below this table.
Gold Diamond Enchant Dagonnoth hide (Waterbirth Island, 8% drop chance) Ores, Metal Bars, and Gems Coal inside the satchel can be used to smelt bars at a furnace. This includes the Blast Furnace. Gems inside the satchel can be used to craft Gold Jewellery.
Rune Dragonstone Enchant Suqah hide (Lunar Isle) Runes Can hold up to 6 stacks. Runes inside the satchel can be used to cast spells (The icons will not light up but you can still cast them).
Black Onyx Enchant Black Dragonhide Not implemented at the moment (it can be crafted but won't carry anything).
    • Notes on clue scrolls:
      • Clue scrolls are normally not dropped if you already own one in your bank or inventory. Scrolls in the Red Satchel will not count towards this limit. Even if you do have one in your bank or inventory, additional scrolls can still be dropped directly into the satchel if you are carrying it.
      • Clue scrolls only track the progress of one treasure trail at a time. If you are partway through a trail then complete a clue that is not part of that trail, your progress will be reset back to the beginning. It is recommended to only take out one clue, then complete the whole trail before taking out another.

Modified Items

  • Crystal bow and crystal shield have been heavily modified. They no longer get weaker as they degrade, and the number of charges has increased from 2,500 to 12,000.
    • The recharge cost has also changed. Rather than coins, you need 3,000 Rune Arrows to recharge the Bow, and 20 Rune Kite Shields to recharge the Shield. Purchasing a new bow or shield costs 20% more (3,600 and 24).
  • Ava's Attractor no longer needs to be worn to retrieve your arrows, the effect is permanent once the Animal Magnetism quest is completed.
  • Ring of Wealth
    • Casting High Level Alchemy on the ring will permanently unlock the increased drop rate of rare drops. It will NOT permanently unlock the other abilities of the ring, such as increased drop rate of gems while mining.
    • Coin and Tokkul drops from slain enemies will automatically be added to your inventory if wearing the ring (unless they are blocked by adding the item names to your Player Ignore List).
  • Wearing the full Ghostly Robe set will hide you from NPCs, preventing aggressive NPCs from initiating combat with you (same effect as the new Protect from Summoning prayer).
    • Note that this only stops them when searching for targets. If you attack first, they spot you before you put the robes on, or they spawn in already aware of you (such as in the fight caves), then you will still be attacked.

Minigames

  • Blast Furnace:
    • Adding ore to the conveyor belt will also take the required coal from the Gold Satchel, if there is room for the coal in the furnace.
    • Shoveling coke into the stove automatically continues until the stove is full or you walk away.
  • Mage Training Arena: Rewards have had their prices reduced to 20% of the original cost (except runes, which nobody buys here anyway)
  • Pest Control: The amount of points rewarded from each boat has been increased to 10, 15, and 25 respectively, making it easier to afford the reward items. Purchasable exp has been reduced to account for the increased point gain.
  • Treasure Trails: The items required for Emote Clue Scrolls can be stored in the Costume Room Bank instead of equipped (see Construction).

Areas

  • The Stronghold of Security no longer asks you a question at each door.
  • The bank in Burgh de Rott is now accessible if you meet the requirements for In Aid of the Myreque.
  • The mining carts under Ice Mountain and White Wolf Mountain now lead to Keldagrim for free (the cart conductor will still charge if you talk to him).
  • The Port Phasmatys entry fee can be paid with Ecto-Tokens from your bank if you don't have any in your inventory.
  • The Heroes Guild has a Fountain of Heroes on the main floor, so you can recharge dragonstone jewelry without going into the basement.
  • You don't need to carry the Seal of Passage to talk to people on Lunar Isle, having it in the bank is enough.
  • The Culinomancer's chest under Lumbridge will increase in tier every 10 quest points, maxing out at 100.
  • The Fairy Ring travel log now shows every fairy ring destination, whether you have been there or not.

Skills

Agility

  • A small amount of experience is gained when running. This experience starts at 0.22 exp per tick, and goes up by 0.02 for each Agility level, ending at 2.18 at level 99. The exp is affected by your experience multiplier.

Construction

  • Working at the Workbench in the Workshop room will consume planks and grant construction experience.
  • An extra bank has been added that can be accessed by building a Fancy Dress Box in your Costume Room.
    • Items in this bank count as "worn" when doing Emote Clue Scrolls as part of Treasure Trails.
  • Entering and Exiting:
    • You can enter a house from any house portal in the world. When leaving, you can choose to appear at any house portal that the owner has the construction level to use.
    • You can enter someone else's house even if they aren't home, as long as they are online and their house is unlocked.
      • You will no longer be kicked out when the owner leaves their house, but you will be kicked out if they log off or click the "Expel Guests" button in their settings.
    • Casting "Teleport to House" will now teleport you to the last house you entered through a house portal.
      • If the owner is offline or their house is locked, you will teleport to your own house, but the next time you teleport you will try their house again. To switch back to teleporting to your own house, enter it once through a house portal.
    • Using the Building Mode buttons in the settings menu when outside of your house will now lock/unlock it.

Crafting

  • Elemental Battlestaves can now be crafted with either a Dramen Staff or a Battlestaff, instead of just a Battlestaff.

Farming

  • Harvesting or clearing a fully grown and healthy crop will now return enough seeds to replant it.
  • Wearing an Amulet of Farming or Amulet of Nature when harvesting will now give you noted items, saving you from needing to manually note them with the nearby leprechaun. The other functions of those amulets are not implemented yet.
    • This functionality has been extended to the Green Satchel as well (see New Items).
  • Leprechauns now ignore the number of empty buckets they have in stock, and will give or take as many as you request.

Firemaking

  • Making a fire will automatically repeat until all the matching logs in your inventory are used, or you run out of space.
    • This also applies to fires started by using logs on a Pyrelord familiar, with a few differences:
      • The Pyrelord will only continue if you have a tinderbox in your inventory. If you have no tinderbox it will just burn one log.
      • The Pyrelord will continue burning logs even if you are doing other things. The only way to stop it is to run out of logs or drop your tinderbox.
      • Because the Pyrelord does not move after creating a fire like players do, only the first log used needs a clear space on the ground. Additional logs will be burned even if there is no room.

Fishing

  • Feathers from hunter can be used for fly fishing.

Fletching

  • Arrow shafts can now be made from all log types. Better logs will give more arrow shafts. The level requirement to turn a log into arrow shafts is 5 less than the level needed to turn it into a shortbow.
  • The materials needed to make ammunition has been made easier to acquire (see mining for arrowheads, woodcutting for logs, and hunter for feathers).

Herblore

  • Cleaning herbs now repeats if you have more of the matching herb in your inventory.
  • Most potions will now be made with 4 doses instead of 3. This does not include quest-related potions like Relicym's Balm.
  • The amount of herb tar (used as Salamander Ammo) made from one herb has increased from 15 to 45.
    • The other ingredient, Swamp Tar, can be now be purchased in bulk at the Lumbridge General Store.

Hunter

  • Imps in a box now act as a one-time-use deposit box. They can take up to your whole inventory to the bank, but only once.
  • Traps now last 10 minutes instead of 1 minute.
  • Birds caught in bird snares now give 60 feathers instead of 8.

Magic

  • Combat spells will only consume runes 33% of the time (to bring it more in line with arrows which only break 20% of the time).
  • The spell sorting buttons in the Magic interface will now swap between unlocked spellbooks.
  • Autocasting improvements:
    • Saradomin Strike, Claws of Guthix, Flames of Zamorak can now be autocast by their respective staves. The menu will always show Claws of Guthix, but the correct spell will be cast.
    • Autocasting no longer depends on your spellbook. The Ancient Staff and Zuriel's Staff will always autocast Ancient Magicks, all other staves will always autocast Standard Spells.
    • The previously selected autocast spell is now remembered when logging in.
  • Standard Spells:
    • Alchemy spells will continuously cast for up to 1 minute if you have more of the matching item in your inventory.
      • Low Alchemy is faster to cast and alchemizes 10 items per cast to compensate for the lower coin output.
    • Enchanting spells will automatically repeat if you have more of the matching item in your inventory.
    • Telekinetic Grab will grab all matching items within 10 tiles of the targeted item (if you have space in your inventory).
    • Crumble Undead now does more damage as your magic level increases, so it is a viable option against undead enemies at any level. The formula is Magic Level / 10, rounded down, plus 12.
      • The spell also can now be used on more undead enemies, including Barrows Brothers and revenants.
  • Ancient Magicks
    • Teleport spells in the Ancient Spellbook work up to level 48 wilderness (this does not include the home teleport spell). Note that you can still be teleblocked by Revenants.
  • Lunar Spells:
    • Monster Examine now returns all combat levels and attack/defense bonuses of targeted creatures.
    • Plank Make no longer costs coins, and automatically re-casts if you have additional logs of the same type.
    • Ourania teleport has been moved much closer to the altar.

Mining and Smithing

  • Mining and Smithing levels have been rebalanced. All actions related to a metal have the same requirement. Meaning you can mine, smelt, and smith all steel items at level 30 mining/smithing.
    • Mithril, Adamant, and Rune have been adjusted to require levels 50, 60, and 70 respectively.
  • Rocks no longer deplete after one ore. They now have a chance to deplete, depending on the rock respawn time and player level. Runite, due to its value, will still always deplete after one ore.
  • The amount of arrowheads, bolts, darts, and throwing knives you can get from 1 bar have been multiplied by 3. This should make fletching your own ammo more viable.

Prayer

  • The Blessed Silver Sickle (from the Nature Spirit quest) will now automatically bury bones from slain enemies when they die, if it is in your inventory.
    • This can be toggled on and off by using the "Cast Bloom" option ("Cast Bloom" will still perform its original function of growing fungus instead of toggling the ability, if cast in an area where fungus can grow and you have sufficient prayer points).
    • The Sickle will also grant prayer exp if an enemy drops ashes instead of bones.
  • Protect from Summoning will hide you from NPCs, preventing aggressive NPCs from initiating combat with you (same effect as the Ghostly Robe set, see the Modified Items section).
  • Chivalry and Piety now boost Magic and Ranged by the same amount as Attack.
  • Prayer point drains have been rebalanced. Mostly, anything that's not a protection prayer costs much less.
    • The 5%, 10%, and 15% boosting prayers cost 1, 2, and 3 points per minute each. The attack and strength boosting ones cost half of that, since you need two of them active.
    • Chivalry costs 7.5 per minute, and Piety costs 10 (matching the protection prayers).

Runecrafting

Runecrafting has been heavily rebalanced. The time spenting mining and running has decreased, and the time spent runecrafting increased.

  • Instead of crafting your entire inventory of essence at once, you will craft them one at a time, at the same pace as smelting bars (1 every 5 ticks). To compensate for this, the rune multiplier and experience per essence have been doubled.
  • Teleport tablets to each of the altars can be crafting by bringing soft clay instead of rune essence to the altar. These teleport you to the ruins outside, you still need a talisman to get in.
    • Death Talisman and Blood Talisman have been added to the drop tables of Abyssal creatures, so they now drop all the talismans (this is currently the only way to obtain the Blood Talisman).
  • A Soul Altar has been placed on Crandor that requires 90 Runecrafting to use (no talisman required).
    • Since there is no "Soul altar tablet", the unused Telekinetic Grab tablet acts as the Soul tablet.
    • Soul runes have a small rune multiplier chance above level 90.
  • Water, Earth, and Fire runes now have the same level requirement, experience, and rune multiplier as Air runes.
  • The Ourania altar is now affected by the rune multiplier, but only at half the rate of normal altars.
    • Since there is no tablet for the Ourania altar, the Lunar spell Ourania Teleport has been moved much closer to the altar.
  • Combination runes are now also affected by the rune multiplier. For example, if you make Mist runes at the Air altar with a 4x multiplier, you will spend 1 essence and 4 Water runes to attempt to make 4 Mist runes.
    • You still need a Binding Necklace equipped to get 100% success chance. However, the exp earned is no longer reduced by failures.
    • The Binding Necklace now uses one charge per Essence instead of per inventory, so the charges have been increased from 15 to 400.
    • The taliman cost when crafting combination runes is only paid once, and is not required again until you go 12 seconds without runecrafting. This allows you to still craft a full inventory of combination runes with only one talisman (or one cast of Magic Imbue).
    • All combination runes had their experience increased to match Lava runes.
  • Using any of the essence pouches on a bank booth, bank chest, or banker, will refill all the pouches you are carrying with pure essence, as well as your summoning familiar if you have one.
    • When runecrafting, running out of essence will automatically attempt to withdraw pure essence from your familiar and pouches.

Slayer

  • All NPCs killed now reward some slayer exp, even when not on a slayer task. This exp stacks with the exp earned from a slayer taks. The new rates are: 33% of the original exp when not on a task, and 133% of the exp when on a task.

Strength

  • Slower melee weapons have a guaranteed minimum damage on successful hits. This is to bring them closer to the average DPS of fast weapons like the scimitar.
    • The max and minimum hits can be seen with the ::calcmaxhit command.
    • The fastest melee weapons have a 4 tick delay between attacks. For each 1 tick increase in the delay, 10% of the maximum hit is added to the minimum hit. So for two-handed swords which have a 7 tick delay, their minimum damage is 30% of the maximum damage (rounded down).

Summoning

Summoning has been heavily altered.

  • The Summoning tab is visible even if you don't have a familiar. Pressing the "Call Pet" button without any active familiar will open a storage where you can store Summoning Pouches. Pouches in the storage can be used to summon familiars without withdrawing them.
  • Summoning a familiar no longer destroys the pouch and does not cost any summoning points, although you need to have at least one point to do so and you no longer get exp for opening a pouch.
    • The points you used to spend to summon a familiar have been added to the drain rate. The drain rate is now (summoning level required)/(familiar lifespan). Example: a Thorny Snail requires level 13 summoning, and has a default lifespan of 16 minutes, so it will drain 13 points every 16 minutes.
    • The lifespan is now tied directly to your remaining Summoning Points. If you reach zero, the familiar will despawn. You can keep a familiar active indefinitely by replenishing your summoning points.
    • Because familiars can be dismissed and resummoned immediately, they now start with empty special move points. The recovery rate has been changed from 15 points every 30 seconds to 1 point every 1.8 seconds.
    • Exp is gained every minute a familiar is summoned. The amount is the summoning level required for that familiar, plus ten.
  • Beast of Burden familiars will automatically pick up items dropped by enemies, if they have room. Beasts of Burden are: Thorny Snail, Spirit Kalphite, Bull Ant, Spirit Terrorbird, War Tortoise, Pack Yak.
    • The Pack Yak, if it has its special move scrolls in its inventory, will automatically use those scrolls to deposit dropped items to your bank.
    • If there are items you don't want looted, adding the start of the item name to your Player Ignore List will prevent familiars from picking it up.
  • Restrictions preventing Beasts of Burden from carrying untradeable items, expensive items, or rune essence have been removed. To compensate for this, the three Abyssal familiars that can only carry rune essence have had the amount they can carry increased to 18, 24, and 30.
  • Making pouches now only costs 1 Spirit Shard per pouch, regardless of pouch type.

Thieving

  • Pickpocketing will automatically repeat until you move away, your health gets too low, or the NPC movement interrupts you.
  • Cracking safes in the Rogue's Den under Burthorpe will automatically repeat until you move away, your health gets low, or you run out of inventory space.
  • The Master Farmer has had Spirit Weed seeds added to the drop table. They now drop every herb seed (except Goutweed, which is quest locked).

Woodcutting

  • Normal trees have a chance at giving multiple logs like high leveled trees.

Boosted Mode

A custom game mode has been added, and can be enabled when leaving tutorial island. Inspired by the Old School Runescape Leagues mode, Boosted mode sacrifices game balance for more powerful custom features that will lead to faster progression. These features will invalidate some challenges of the game, so it is not recommended to enable this mode if you want a more traditional experience.

Changes unique to this mode

  • The Strange Teleorb only requires 2 law runes per charge instead of 20.

Bugfixes

These aren't very important unless you try to play both Snowscape and 2009Scape and wonder why the behaviour is different.

  • Fixed attack range decreasing by 1 when attacking 2x2 or larger creatures from the southwest corner.
  • Fixed Void Spinner summoning familiar healing itself instead the player.
  • Fixed Ibis familiar foraging cooked fish instead of raw fish.
  • Construction workbenches that require upgrading from a previous bench have been altered. Since upgrading doesn't currently work, they can now be crafted from scratch like normal benches. The resources used to craft them have been increased to compensate.
  • Locking your house is now saved when logging out.
  • The Shadow Sword had its missing animations and sounds added.
